There comes a point in life, trends in music no longer matter and you simply love good music that truly reaches into you. It finds that part inside you that you only set free for *that* song or *that* artist. Those artists can be hard to find these days, but Im glad I spent all the time I did finding Reckless Eden.
I learned long ago when you leave the “popular” methods of music discovery, it’s a jungle out there. I get it, business wise. Music wise, not so much cause my “mainstream” has shifted. However, you keep at it and blaze a few of your own trails, and in time you find some really incredible music.
Reckless Eden is one of those discoveries for me.
After dropping some cash in iTunes, I was able to add several songs to our latest rotation. That was a no-brainer for me. In about every way possible, THIS is the type of music I am constantly searching for.
As a writer myself, the lyrics are nothing short of genius to me. There’s just a flow to not only the words, but *how* they come together.
Will I burn my past just to let it go?
Will I learn to love and be the man you know?
Grenades, where these lyrics came from, quickly became my favorite from this band. Ain’t gonna lie, however; it’s a crowded stage. There are 9 songs on their Spotify page, and I would play any of them at any time and expect a positive response. I can see any of these songs at any time hitting people on a “personal” level.
The common man way the songs are written and arranged put the music in a “timeless” category to me. I could have listened to this 30 years ago and loved it.
Now, it wouldn’t the same, no. it couldn’t be. You see, I wouldn’t understand a song like this at 30 the way i do at 59. As we get older, things that remain the same tend to fade and the things that stand out for being real become everything.
Finding Reckless Eden was an amazing thing for me. They stand out for all the RIGHT musical reasons. I’ll toss out a few videos to get you started. From there, make sure you have some time on your hands cause you’re going to be spending a lot of your time getting to know Reckless Eden and finding a home for them in your own music collection.
Hey Alex, quick note; i had NO IDEA you won Hells Kitchen til I started digging into band members! Wow. Great, now back to your music. 🙂
