pick a favorite song from reckless coast, i dare you

wow. 4 songs into reckless coast, the title “favorite song” has changed 3 times.

ok, that’s about the strangest way i’ve ever started out a review, but im really digging this band and that’s how it started in my head. so if there’s an issue here, blame the inside of my head. you’re going to have a hard time finding a favorite song from reckless coast – but you’re going to love trying!

reckless coast is a band i found on spotify late last year. song after song i go back to them and song after song, which i appreciate the most does keep changing. in all fairness, it can change back and forth between songs even.

everything i’ve heard so far is simply solid. straight ahead rock and roll. musicians playing their instruments and JUST their instruments, singing that matches the style so perfectly and music that just takes hold in a good old fashioned rock and roll way.

the hard part is digging up info on the band. their website has tour info, so im guessing they’re out of austraila. well, at least on tour there with a hell of a show in brisbane on june 25th. anyone wanna send me to cover it? im in!

then, facebook has this:
‘Reckless Coast’ embodies a no-nonsense, unpretentious approach to music that is undiluted by mainstream currents, yet remains completely relevant in today’s industry.

yep. i can go with that. whoever wrote that for the band, kudos. it works as much as anything i can think of.

ok, hell of a ramble before i get back to the music. so, without any further said rambling –

2019. pull me in. this is the earliest song on spotify. later that year, taste test is released with pull me in and 3 others. ok. i can see a tone shift as we go. maybe growth, or maybe they just decided to kick it up a bit. hell, this is only 4 songs in, i need to calm down on the dramatic writing.

but i’m certainly digging the overall tone set from the outset.

now we run through a string of singles over the course of coming to last year, 2024. along the way flashes of funk jam out in the background of the songs. i love it.

the ONLY single im going to “single out” is ambers. this is the first song i heard from reckless coast as spotify decided to go off on its own at the end of my playlist. in this case, it hit a home run cause i woke up at 3am to make sure i knew who sang it.

and here i am now.  watch me as i burn. (it will make sense later)

at the end of this tour from 2019 to 2024, you’ll find naked & famous, their latest EP consisting of 5 songs. in all, the energy stands out from this band.

and in all honestly, you will struggle to find a favorite song. you will, in time, gravitate to certain songs, but no i can’t tell you what they will be. you see, all of these are good enough to find homes in all of our memories. you’ll find your own reasons and have a great time doing it.

take a few minutes and check them out where ever you find music.  here’s their spotify link, you can start there. who knows, maybe i’ll see you in brisane this june.  🙂

from facebook again –
Reckless Coast is: Jaeden Ogston (Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist), India Raine (Bassist), Jono Frowd (Drummer).
