Scarlet Rebels – Where the Colours Meet

it was about two years ago i first wrote about scarlet rebels. i was certainly slow to the party as that review of “show your colors” was in 2022 for a 2019 album. it was then i promised to keep up and be there as soon as the next one is released. Scarlet Rebels – Where the Colours Meet is now COMPLETELY released and here i am. as promised. so, lets see what the guys have been up to these last 5 years, shall we?

my first question is almost always – was there growth? do i see something new and experimental from the band? “show your colors” was hard driving and simply pure rock and roll. but they could flip and put that same strength into songs such as heal. rest assured, in my eyes the bar was set high and im not afraid to let opinions fly.

as usual, i refuse to talk about each and every song, just select highlights. secret drug is as good a place to start as any, i suppose.  typical of scarlet rebels in that you have straight ahead rock and roll. to old dudes like me, we feel a strong sense of yesterday while hearing something new. love this from the band!

i hear a lot of what i’d expect but what i didn’t expect was a better job at the middle ground songs. the songs that don’t shred a guitar or makes you shed tears. declining is a great example of that. the extremes would be something like “out of time” to make you sit and contemplate things. just, things. Divide and Conquer and My House My Rules will have you turning up the radio and moving however you choose to move.

the music will make you move, that’s for sure!

the changes are subtle, but there. you’ll find everything you love about this band in Where the Colours Meet and a little bit more. in all, another solid release from a very talented group of musicians you need to add to your collection. my “damn it” moment is simply they are a UK based band and don’t tour in the US much.  rest assured i’d MOST WELCOME a photo pass and chance to see these guys! bucket list item, yep.

in looking, there’s no US tour dates in the near future so i’ll have to live vicariously through others fortunate enough to catch a live show and feel this energy firsthand. favorite this band on any music platform you have and make sure to give “where the colours meet” a chance. you’ll find a few favorites. you will always find a new favorite song from scarlet rebels.
