Dez Bryant has been a good receiver in his first two seasons with the Cowboys, but Tony Romo thinks Bryant is going to be more than just good. Bryant, Romo believes, has what it takes to be great.
Romo told CBS 11 in Dallas that he’s been impressed with Bryant this offseason and believes the best for Bryant is yet to come.
“He just keeps improving and improving. He’s a kid that I enjoy playing with because he wants to get better,” Romo said, via the Dallas Morning News. “He’s always asking, ‘Hey Tony, what can I do to be better?’ I love playing with guys like him, Miles [Austin] and these guys. They want to be better themselves and they’re trying to do anything they can to get better. The guys that really want to be great and have that ability to be great, you can’t have enough of those guys. And we got a few of them. Dez is just a great kid like that. He’s getting better and better every week.”
Bryant had a solid second NFL season last year, with 63 catches for 928 yards and nine touchdowns. But all the talk coming out of Dallas this offseason has been about Bryant taking a step beyond “solid” and toward becoming the kind of spectacular player the Cowboys thought they were drafting in the first round in 2010. Romo sounds confident that Bryant will do just that.
