Kansas gov. signs measure blocking Islamic law - Kansas, greatest state in the union!

I love living in Kansas! After living in southern California and New Jersey, it is quite refreshing to see my public officials working to preserve rights rather than pervert them.

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback has signed a law aimed at keeping the state's courts or government agencies from basing decisions on Islamic or other foreign legal codes, and a national Muslim group's spokesman said Friday that a court challenge is likely.

The new law, taking effect July 1, doesn't specifically mention Shariah law, which broadly refers to codes within the Islamic legal system. Instead, it says courts, administrative agencies or state tribunals can't base rulings on any foreign law or legal system that would not grant the parties the same rights guaranteed by state and U.S. constitutions.

"This bill should provide protection for Kansas citizens from the application of foreign laws," said Stephen Gele, spokesman for the American Public Policy Alliance, a Michigan group promoting model legislation similar to the new Kansas law. "The bill does not read, in any way, to be discriminatory against any religion."

Equivocation and the refraining of outright declaring your belief and allegiance for fear of being called extreme.

I think you may be missing the point of this legislation. It is not designed to help a Kansan that is kidnapped by scum bag Muslim terrorists while visiting Jerusalem. It's purpose is to forbid the use of foreign laws or beliefs such as Sharia or the the World Court to be used in judicial and administrative decisions in Kansas. There is no way anyone in their right mind would consider that a bad thing. With justices and administrators of government funds around the country citing all sorts of absurd things to justify their actions, this adds a layer of protection to the citizens of Kansas. I was only a few months ago a judge ruled you may rape your wife if you are Muslim. Why do you think the Muslims are ones suing? Everyone else likes the idea of basing decisions on the US Constitution and State Constitutions.

I too don't understand how or why this is an issue. Clearly we are not in Iraq or Iran, why should their code of conduct enter into the equation in our country?

because they try to push it.

Sharia, or Islamic law, influences the legal code in most Muslim countries. A movement to allow sharia to set regulations that pertain to marriage, divorce, inheritance, and custody, is now expanding into the United States. All Sharia is derived from two primary sources, the divine revelations set forth in the Qur'an, and the sayings and example set by the Prophet Muhammad in the Sura.

search for cases where muslims demaneded to be tried by their law - it's all out there and we're too "puss" to just say no.

we tend to compromise and appease too much vs. stick to our core.

    .
This has NEVER worked. Ask Neville Chamberlain how that worked out for him.
