Welcome to the very first edition of Cover Vs. Cover! So here's the deal - Take a listen to the original, then there will be two cover versions of that song - and You decide which you like better in the Comments section! Pretty simple, really... Suggestions are also very welcome!

The Original - "Daddy Cool", Originally recorded by German Disco-pop artist BONEY M. for their 1976 album "Take The Heat Off Me" - It became a staple of bad Disco 'tunes (Not that I'd ever imply there was a time of GOOD disco 'tunes), and still to this day tortures millions of retail workers/customers in a good number of establishments that are fed their workplace entertainment via MUZAK channel.

Why I chose this song: I was determined to find a way to make this song tolerable. As catchy as it is, it still poisoned my heart knowing that, it's a disco tune, and I would not allow myself to put it on any Mix tape or media player without at least letting part of my soul cry out in pain. there HAS to be something better out there...



Cover #1 - British Rockers PLACEBO covered this as a "Bonus" to their 2003 album,"Sleeping With Ghosts"



Thoughts: While given a bit of an edge, This isn't a BAD version.. Although i've heard much better from Placebo. I could stand to see them up the tempo a bit, too. Not Bad, Not Great, More tolerable than the original.

Cover #2 - Norwegian Rockers THE CARBURETORS, off their 2008 release, "Rock'N'Roll Forever"



Thoughts: To directly quote a description I was once given about these guys (And modify it slightly) - Chuck Berry & Motorhead gang raped a groupie once while on tour in Norway, And this is the result of that particular evening (Because if you're raped by Chuck Berry OR Lemmy, you probably should keep it. Just sayin'. Royal blood, man.) I've enjoyed the music of the Carburetors ever since I first found them last year sometime, And THIS version I can say I've been proud to show off. Seriously..
