A Fortune Cookie

Rate this Entry
At least a year ago, I acquired a cigar box filled with trinkets and a Paco album. One of those trinkets was a fortune cookie. Today I finally decided to open the fortune cookie. After all, it was at least a year old and probably rotting in it's protective plastic pouch. Breaking the stale cookie open, I pulled out the fortune and threw away the the two stale cookie halves. Turning the small slip of paper over to the other side, I find my favorite line from a song that made me cry the first time I heard it -

"The hardest part of letting go is knowing when to walk away" (from the song "All I'll Ever Be").

Oh the numerous times this line has applied to incidents in The Heart Department. I no longer cry when I hear the song. Instead my heart gets heavy at the reality this line slaps in front of my face. Time to bring out the super glue again.
