One of the benefits of being a Net Radio station is the lack of borders. Here at Renegade Radio, we get the pleasure of finding absolutely amazing bands. Not just from around the country, but internationally as well. One of the bands we recently have found is Phoenix’s own, Back From Ashes, www.backfromashes.com (http://www.backfromashes.com). This band however really isn’t new to me, least in a sense. I’ve heard their name since the early 2000’s from fans, bands and local Phoenix Net Radio. I briefly checked them out, but it wasn’t till recently I was able to sit down and listen to their whole cd. As the resident metal head/hard rock lover here at Renegade Radio, I can honestly say BFA is a band I’d whole-heartedly recommend to anyone whose a fan of the genre.

The band itself was originally formed in 2003. Vocalist Jason Hobel and Guitarist Butikofer came together with the past members of the band. Like any band, Back From Ashes has under gone its stages of Evolution till you find its current line up as it appears now. Which would be Hobel and Butikofer still. But with the additions of their current members they've seemed to find the perfect mix musically. All are very talented with what they do.

The band is one that I can go so far as to say speaks for itself. In my opinion, though unsigned, this band stands on a level of its own. The people love these guys and it shows in their accomplishments. Some of these but not limited to.
-Over a Million Plays on Myspace in one year alone
-2008 Star Music Awards
-5 most added on CMJ and 6 most added on FMQB in the first week of their radio campaign with a total of 108 adds, one behind Ozzy Osbourne himself in both markets. B.F.A. was the only unsigned band in the top 30.
-9 National Street Teams and 1 in Canada
-12 band of the month features on 12 different sites this year
-Nominated for a Grammy in 2010.
I could go on for a while this band, but they definitely are one that their actions speak for themselves.

Their cd: entitled 261, is very much so worth the investment to buy it. It is very well produced and in my own opinion could easily compete with anyone put together by major label signed bands. They are yet another band whose showing that you do not have to be signed to make a great impact. They cover the bases completely with this album. You have songs like “The Suffering Within” that sound more like a ballad and can literally feel the emotion put into each and every song. Jason definitely does very well representing himself on this album through his vocals. As do all the members through their musicianship. If there is a “perfect mix” for a certain band, these guys definitely have found it within the band lineup it has now.

As for myself, I’m the type who shoots from the hip and doesn’t sugar coat anything. I can honestly say these guys have impressed me. They definitely are one of the bands I’d highly recommend for purchasing their music. They’d be a great addition whether it be to your digital library or you’re one of the faithful still buying hardcopies a.k.a. CD’s. With this said, Back From Ashes is one you must check out. So go do so now! Support them and all bands because they’re doing this as much for us as they are themselves! You can buy their music at CD Baby or Itunes and a few others! So go support them and buy this album!
