I remember when my Dad died, he had an experience very similar to this. My Dad had to labor for every breath he took for over three hours. He had lung cancer from years of smoking. But just before he passed, he had great composure and peace and the look on his face like he was seeing the most spectacular thing ever. And he probably was.

i don't know if i'll ever have enough "religious faith" to ever see that. i'm more science minded but i also see how they're together, not seperate. we understand sciece in our own time as we evolve. as we do with just about everything.

maybe the Lord did it this way to give us time to evolve into more. Maybe Religion is just a fantasy held by faith. But I can certainly respect anyone who holds their faith that close to them and hope I can find the same passion around my own beliefs one day.

You aren't going to need faith to experience that. You are definitely going to experience something. At that point, faith is no longer necessary.

I don't mean this question to be antagonistic at all, I'm just curious: Since Jobs was a non-Christian, do you think he saw heaven/God/the Pearly Gates and was then turned away for not having accepted Jesus as his savior?

Yes. There is what is called the Judgment seat of Christ. We will all stand before God and give an account. As Christians we have the only defense available and that is the shed blood of Jesus. We will stand before God and the Devil will accuse us, as it says in the Bible. But Jesus will stand in for us and tell the Father that the penalty was already paid. And that's it. If we didn't accept Christ, then that's REALLY it. But I do believe that he saw the Father. The Glory that comes from Him is beyond anything that we have ever seen or imagined. I think it would probably illicit and "Oh Wow!" or two. I don't know if that was more than you were asking for and if it is, I apologize. Just wanted to make it clear.

Too much is always better than not enough, thanks for the response.

Sure thing...

I have to make a correction... The Judgment seat of Christ takes place right after the Rapture. That is where we get the rewards for being saved. After the Tribulation period, Then the Great White Throne Judgment takes place. That is where the Dead are raised who were not saved and the devil accuses them. They are judged and then sent to Hell.

cajun - i have a question for you around this -

most other religions in the world do have core simularities - are you familiar with those? not a "call out" but a question. i've not done the research here but my base understanding is that many have similiar events to base things on.

Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths have some similar backgrounds since they came from the same God initially. A lot of the main tenets are the same in that you shouldn't kill, steal etc. (Not the Ten Commandments) Muslims came from Ham, Noah's son. He settled in the Arabic area. However Abraham's son Esau, whom did not receive his fathers blessing because of deception was angry. Jacob who did, fled to save his life from his brother. they later reconciled but esau's lineage also came down through what is now the arabs. Jacob, had his name changed by God to Israel and that is where the Jewish faith came from. This is why there is so much anger against the Jews in the Arab word because they think that the Jews stole Abraham's blessing.

Jesus obviously was first for the Jews and then the Gentiles. However as you know he was rejected by the Jews. While some converted, most did not and the core of Christianity was Gentile.

As for the similarities, The Jews don't deny Jesus lived and was crucified, they just deny he was anything other than a man who blasphemed. Muslims believe that Jesus is a prophet and not the Son of God. And obviously, Christians know him to be The Son of God.

All three of the religions believe that in order to atone for sin, there must be some kind of sacrifice. Jews believe that there needs to be shedding of blood. (Goats, bulls, doves, etc). That's the way it was in the old testament. Muslims believe there also needs to be shedding of blood. That's why they cut off your hands, feet, tongue or gouge out your eyes if you do something wrong. Christians also belive there needs to be shedding of blood but that was done by Christ.

The Bible says that ....

Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. (Rom 5:18)
