Jack Russell’s Great White – He Saw It Comin’

Jack Russell’s Great White – He Saw It Comin’

When I heard Jack Russell’s Great White would be releasing their debut album, I was beyond excited. Finally, new music from the great Jack Russell! Yes, there is still Great White, but really Jack Russell is the voice of Great White. The music just isn’t the same if he is not the one singing it. This album is proof that he has got a great band behind him, consisting of Robby Lochner (guitar), Dan McNay (bass), Dicki Fliszar (drums), and Tony Montana (guitar, keyboards). The beginning of the first track, “Sign of the Times,” starts off with soft guitar picking melody and vocals, with the tempo ...

icepicks for february - gone for days, self titled

icepicks for february - gone for days, self titled
these days where i find music blurs. label services, itunes, reverbnation contests, and just random submissions to our review process are all ways we come across music, so sometimes it can sit on the back burner and wait. recently while putting together the new stream we'll have up and going at the first of the month, i started listening to more and more " gone for days ". guilty pleasure. that's the song. a bit rough on the vocals to fit the style of play, gone for days is pretty removed from "cookie cutter" type music, outside of just being good rock and roll in a time when it's needed most....

icepicks january - the temperance movement reviewed

icepicks january - the temperance movement reviewed
white bear by the temperance movement  - someone say capture the 70s? the younger crowd will simply fall for a good sound. the older crowd will be taken back to yesterday when music was a touch raw, had an edge that pulled you into feeling and in a way, set you free from whatever it was you were doing just minutes before that song started. in this case get yourself free is kinda where i ripped off that quote.  :) there is a sense of honesty that other bands have tried to pull off over the years but can't always get away with for one reason or another. in this case the temperance move...

icepicks december, hell or highwater

icepicks december, hell or highwater
i wish you were here for days like these but you saw all the world gave you to see somtimes life just slips away so shed a tear for the dead remember the legacy they left for the time we have left  remember the life and not the death i had a lot already written and so close to saying everything i had to say about the band. then this song came on, "remember the life and not the death" and given how this year has taken a toll on our own musical heros and our own personal losses that can never be replaced, everything about this song just made me fall in love with music and my own memories al...

Who Wants to be KING???

Who Wants to be KING???
:)
:)
we left the last round of vikings with this cry from ragnar who was both getting through having his brother whip his *** and detoxing from his drug induced loss in paris. to be fair, it was rolos time but ragnar was not ragnar and everyone knew it. enter the new season. i think my only complaint is the "overmakeup" on floki and ragnar that made them look like they were wearing too much makeup, not gotten older. there, that's said. from here i'll talk about the show so if you've not seen it yet, stop if you want. last warning. you'd think my biggest fantasy would come true where lagertha finall...

the walking dead - season whatever

one of the things i pondered so carefully when we left last season in the cliffhanger we did was just how many "real life" people would die before they ever knew who negan killed. i had it all figured out. x amount of population x amount of is a % of fans of the show x amount of people die yearly x amount of fans that would likely die... you get the picture. but the number i came up with was pretty impressive. the "cliffhanger" resolution maybe wasn't exactly what they were looking for as i can see now that it really did 2 things. alienated many fans who thought it was *too* violent set a tone...

why i watch movies, sports and entertaining things

the real world can suck at times. these days for sure. the world seems hellbent on destroying itself and at times, it's hard to find fault in that idea. this last election took a huge toll on us all as a society and culture and regardless of who won, a good 1/2 the people who are emotionally tied to the results, lost. that's a lot of losing to get over. not happening very gracefully either. now i could google some of my own examples of the world gone mad but we all have our own examples. rioting since the left lost the election and showing them obama bumper stickers of "we won, get over it" do...

icepicks - november; saint asonia

ok - in before the 15th so i'm ahead of the game! sorry about missing my show last thursday but the flu was busy taking my ass out. i've coughed up a lot more than i've eaten so i do believe im on the road to recovery and today i actually have the energy to make gross analogies in my opening statements again. I STILL GOT IT!!! now - enough of me. while listening to our own stream i sometimes find bands all over again. while wondering who to tell you about this month i came across saint asonia  and fell in love with the lyrics instantly. "Now I'm leaving Minnesota Would have been nice to h...
