Craving Strange - "Careful Of The Landmines" Review

Craving Strange - "Careful Of The Landmines" Review
Four years ago, in a bar somewhere out in eastern Long Island, I happened upon a tattooed singer from Indiana, whose band had just finished tearing the place up. We spoke for a few minutes, and then went our separate ways. Less than a year later, They held a record release party on Feb 28 th , 2014 at Revolution in Amityville, New York,  that we simulcasted here on Renegade Radio, for the world to hear – changing the course of our New York (And East Coast) endeavors forever. The title of that record was “A Life Exceptional” and the Singer's name is Jimmy G, of the band Craving Strange . 3...

Icepicks for March - Blacktop Mojo

Icepicks for March - Blacktop Mojo
There are so few bands today that can capture your mind, your heart and your imagination all at once in what would appear to be a simple song. To do it several times in one release, well that will take a type of magic, I suppose. In this case, it just took some Blacktop Mojo . Formed in the fall of 2012, vocalist Matt James teamed up with drummer Nathan Gillis and a demo and hit the road. 5 years later they found themselves opening up for one of the biggest 80s rock bands in Bon Jovi just last month in Dallas, TX. Starting off “Where the Wind Blows”, their brand new release, is the title ...

ok, lets turn this up - renegade radio has gone "national"

ok, lets turn this up - renegade radio has gone "national"
since our inception somewhere around 2002, renegaderadio.net has been about what you don't hear on the radio. those of us who started this trip and have come and gone over the years were all about music you just can't hear anywhere else. we'd be out in the scene and hear some incredible stuff and think "any day this will be on FM". you see, FM was relevant back then. but like reel to reel tapes, 8 tracks, am, and the CD, FM really has drifted from relevance. napster in this time has come and gone and song sharing had morphed into the culture overall. we've seen a lot of amazing things at reneg...

Jack Russell’s Great White – He Saw It Comin’

Jack Russell’s Great White – He Saw It Comin’

When I heard Jack Russell’s Great White would be releasing their debut album, I was beyond excited. Finally, new music from the great Jack Russell! Yes, there is still Great White, but really Jack Russell is the voice of Great White. The music just isn’t the same if he is not the one singing it. This album is proof that he has got a great band behind him, consisting of Robby Lochner (guitar), Dan McNay (bass), Dicki Fliszar (drums), and Tony Montana (guitar, keyboards). The beginning of the first track, “Sign of the Times,” starts off with soft guitar picking melody and vocals, with the tempo ...

icepicks for february - gone for days, self titled

icepicks for february - gone for days, self titled
these days where i find music blurs. label services, itunes, reverbnation contests, and just random submissions to our review process are all ways we come across music, so sometimes it can sit on the back burner and wait. recently while putting together the new stream we'll have up and going at the first of the month, i started listening to more and more " gone for days ". guilty pleasure. that's the song. a bit rough on the vocals to fit the style of play, gone for days is pretty removed from "cookie cutter" type music, outside of just being good rock and roll in a time when it's needed most....

icepicks january - the temperance movement reviewed

icepicks january - the temperance movement reviewed
white bear by the temperance movement  - someone say capture the 70s? the younger crowd will simply fall for a good sound. the older crowd will be taken back to yesterday when music was a touch raw, had an edge that pulled you into feeling and in a way, set you free from whatever it was you were doing just minutes before that song started. in this case get yourself free is kinda where i ripped off that quote.  :) there is a sense of honesty that other bands have tried to pull off over the years but can't always get away with for one reason or another. in this case the temperance move...

Twisted's Top 10 of 2016!

Twisted's Top 10 of 2016!

Hey Everybody!  Every now and again I get around to writing a thing. I most certainly should do so more often, but, reasons. So let's get on with it shall we? For some, 2016 was a Steaming pile of Horseshit. It seemed like everybody lost at least one or two idols with the Grim Reaper claiming so many celebrities. The media catastrophe that was the U.S. Presidential Election stressed everybody out. We won't even bring up Brexit. Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad left a LOT of us hardcore fans disappointed, but they still killed the box office. There were a few good things that came out o...
